May 16, 2021

Happy Sunday! I am going to be honest, this blog is going to be the Cliff Notes version of what is to come in email this week. It is a crazy day and I am trying to writing this real quick in between games.

Classroom Movement: I am going to share a document that lays everything out for you in regard to classroom movement, but for now, here are the key details:

1) Coordinate with the person whose room you will be moving to. Please have a space in your room available for the new person to start stacking things.

2) You have my permission and encouragement to use your students to help you move things the last week of school. (Don't tell anyone I said that:))

3) I will be sharing a document for you to share any furniture you need moved, removed or need added. On this document, you can also note any repairs that need to be done to your new classroom.

4) There will be a dumpster on campus to throw things away. Do not throw away furniture or any curriculum.

iReady: I am so sorry there was such a glitch last week. I think almost everyone is done. Please finish testing this week.

Data Check Ins: I send invites for the data check ins. We will talk about data and you can ask questions about the class lists. Please add your data to the data wall: Stoneridge Data Wall

Character Trait: I will continue to recognize Independence this week. I did not get to come around much last week.

Spirit Day: This Friday will be Summer wear! 😎

Coming Up This Week:

Wednesday, 5/19, at 3pm: Staff Meeting

If you have questions, let me know.

Enjoy your day! This meme is just because it feels like my life right now~ BASEBALL all day everyday! I also put it in the family blog. Clearly, my creativity is gone!

Sunday, May 9

Happy Mother's Day to all! Whether you are a mom or celebrating your mom, I hope you have a special day with family. I am starting this blog on Saturday in hopes for some relaxing on Sunday. I do know the most important plans include a game of kickball. We played last year, so that means it is a tradition, right? Ha! I sure hope the parents win again!

So, the end of the year is upon us. Honestly, I feel like it came out of nowhere. Just me? We have things to do like class lists and pinks/blues. Pinks and blues should be completed and given to Luisa. If you need some, she also has extras. Please get them to her by the last day of school. We will get them separated according to class lists created for next year.

Class Lists: Here is a document to start making class lists. You can work with your grade level to make balanced classes. We will be finding some time for grade levels above and below to work together to talk about the lists. But first, work within your grade level to create classes.

Class Lists

Student Requests: Each teacher may request three students based on family relationships, having siblings, etc. Here is a document to list your top three requests. There are no guarantees, but everyone will do their best. Please understand, there are ONLY three requests and they are not guaranteed.

Student Request

Classroom Movement: There is a lot of movement next year. I recommend you coordinate with the person's who classroom you are moving into. I will be providing dates and guidelines for the movement. There will be a dumpster on campus for you to use.

Data Discussions: On Monday, 5/17 and Tuesday, 5/18, I will be setting up appointments to talk about data and student progress. I will be sending invitations.

Teacher Appreciation Clarification: Out of good intention, I am afraid I created a bit of a conundrum when I asked for your $100 wish. We thought that PTC was going to be able to make the purchases, but PTC cannot buy personal items for teachers. As a work around, we reached out to parent liaisons for each class and shared the items from your list. It was up to the parent to work with parents in your class and choose something for you. I know that all of you were showered with love this last week!

Coming Up This Week:

This week, I will be resuming the Character recognition prizes, just don't ask me what character trait we will be recognizing. TBD.

No PLC Leadership Meeting this Wednesday

Friday, Spirit Day: Stoneridge Gear

Wednesday, 5/19, there will be a staff meeting at 3:00 pm.

Have a Wonderful Day!!

Happy May! You know what that means, we are on the home stretch! There is officially light at the end of the tunnel. Then, we blink, and this year is over! It will be tough to say goodbye to this group of kids because I know that you have bonded in a much different way that makes it a special group.

I am going to keep this blog short and easy because we are kicking off a week dedicated to you, and I want you to kick it off with a light blog! Take in the showering this week and and enjoy every minute! My friends from the Bay Area have been reaching out throughout this pandemic adventure asking how we are doing it. How did we get back to school so soon and do it so well? What I tell them is that our teachers are awesome and willing to do anything. Do you know that many of the other districts are having trouble going back to school because the teachers are pushing back? Isn't that crazy? You all, well, we all were very nervous about all of the unknowns of going back. Ya, it was freaking scary! But you all did it. You adjusted, took it on, AND found out it was actually pretty great to be back in class with the kids. Some of you adapted in a different way and stayed with distance. You adapted too and also rocked it!

All I have to say, is that you are all amazing! I am the type of person that will rave and brag about people, but not tell the person, or people, directly. (I am still working on that!) So, THANK YOU for all you have taken on and all you do everyday! You are the BEST!!

Enjoy the rest of your day and this entire week!

A couple reminders and a BIG announcement

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! A huge congratulations to Rori Wright who will be our site TOSA! I am excited to work with her to support all of you and our students. It is going to be amazing!

Character Trait: I will be coming around to celebrate those again this week, but I haven't picked one yet:)

Spirit Day: This Friday wear Red, White and Blue!

Also, remember tomorrow is Hat Day for the summer countdown calendar!

Sunday, April 25, 2021

I cannot believe this is the last week in April. Crazy! I also recognize that I have made a reference about how fast time is going in probably every other blog. Well, it is!! We are in a very different place right now than in a 'normal' year. There are still so many unanswered questions. I know it is uncomfortable, but it is the way it is. I will keep you as up to date and I possibly can.

Teachers Who Make a Difference: Please send your nominations to me this week!

Read A Thon Stand Outs: Please share the names of your read a thon stand outs, if you have not already. I am looking for those that earned a lot of money or those that were super excited about the read a thon. I will be choosing from those names for the big prizes on Monday at 10:40. I will have a Zoom link on the calendar.

Balls: Our balls are disappearing quickly. We are contemplating some new systems for next year, but for now we have to come up with a solution to get us through the end of the year. In one of our PLC Leadership meetings, we had talked about having class balls. Do you think this is something we could do? If you were to ask for ball donations and those would be your class balls for the rest of the year. Your class would be responsible for making sure they are taken care of and make it back to your classroom. We can talk about this more at out staff meeting, if that doesn't make sense.

Coming Up This Week:

Staff Meeting: Wednesday, April 28 at 2:30pm

Spirit Day: Wear a hat to Put a Lid on Leukemia!

Have a great week!

Sunday, April 18

Happy Sunday Stoneridge!! The temperature is going to rise quickly, but these last couple weeks have been gorgeous! Last Thursday night, my kids and I went to the West Park High School football game to check it out and watch daddy coach! It happened to be first game they allowed students to attend. I just have to say it was amazing! A true sense of normal. At one point, my 7th grader leaned over and said, 'I have missed this so much.' In this last year, I think we have all gained a new appreciation for things we may have taken for granted. A good reminder not to forget to appreciate and recognize the little things.

Read A Thon: This is our last push. I think we will hit $10k, which is awesome! I will be sharing information about the big drawings next Monday. I am not sure what days I will be popping into classrooms this week. Next week, we will go back to recognizing character traits.

Pennies for Patients: Thank you for your support of Pennies for Patients. I told parents that you would be sharing information about how and where to make donations. I also shared in the parent blog that one of my son's friends was diagnosed with Lymphoma last week. In all honesty, I am a total wreck over it. You just never know. Anyway, I know this money goes to a great cause! Let's do what we can.

Parent Contact Form: Please fill out this form with at least one parent contact/liaison from your class.

Friday Spirit Day: Super Hero Day Again!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sunday, April 11, 2021

Happy Sunday! What beautiful weather we had this weekend! I looked at the forecast and next Sunday is supposed to be 90 degrees. Wow!! This weekend, I have a lot of baseball and lacrosse games to watch! I LOVE it so much, but I quickly remember what it feels like to constantly feel like I can't catch up. It definitely makes fitting in the laundry, grocery shopping, meal prepping, oh- and working much more difficult! Funny how we adjust to what life hands us. I was really enjoying the illusion of almost being on top of things. Well, that was cute. Here we go! Just a reminder to appreciate the little things!

Read A Thon: This is the last week! Let's give it one last push. I am hoping we make our goal, but regardless, the excitement the kids have shown about reading is totally worth it! Remember, you can come up with a financial goal for your class and if you get there, you can choose a popsicle party or an extra recess. The goal is that each student earns $75, so keep that in mind as you create your goal. Thank you for all you are doing!

Book Fair: Yay! The book fair is here! Just remind your students to bring money to buy a book. It will be great. A HUGE thank you to JeriAnn for putting so much time and effort into all of the setting up and planning.

Coming Up This Week:

Wednesday, 4/14, at 2:30pm- Staff Meeting (Link in Staff Calendar)

April 4, 2021

Hello April! Here is an image of what the rest of the year is going to look like. I have no doubt! :)

Just a few updates and pieces of info for you today. But before that, I hope you are waiting until Monday to read this!

The Read A Thon! We officially kick it off on Tuesday at 10:45am. I will share a Zoom link for everyone to join and Jesse Bennett is going to kick it off by reading a story. I will be coming around on Tuesday to give you a bunch of tickets so you can give students tickets for completing the Read At Home Bingo sheet in addition to catching them read. 5 tickets for a row and 10 tickets for a black out. (For the BINGO sheet) There is not any in between. For the next couple weeks, I will be coming around on Mon, Wed and Fri to pull names for small prizes.

Feedback needed: I would like to have a dedicated school time to read on each Friday of the Read A Thon. The only time kinder can participate at the same time is 10:40-11am. Does that work for everyone for this Friday and next? Let me know!

Teacher's Appreciation: We will be celebrating in May. Please fill out the following form by Wednesday, 4/6. Not many of you have filled out the form. Click here: If I had $100

Thank You! A huge thank you to Poppi and Robin Santos for working on the book room. Before we put it to use, we are going to come up with a check out system. Thank you for all of the time you put into the room.

Update: The computer lab is gone. As of right now, it will be used by preschool for their assessment center and conference room. It is wonderful to be able to provide this extra space for them and to have a place they can use as a conference room.

Coming Up This Week: Currently, there is a staff meeting on Wednesday, 4/6. I think I am going to change it to the following week, 4/14. Stay tuned.

Monday, July 31st

I hope you all had a rejuvenating summer spent with your families, creating beautiful memories and recharging your energy. As we begin this ...
