Fun Fact of the Week:

Sunday, May 21

This image popped up when I searched 'last full week of school.' Of course, I was looking for a funny meme, but when I saw this, I was like, Wow! This is so true. The last weeks and the first weeks of school are so similar and these things are very important! I had not really thought of it that way, but this made it so clear.

All of that being said, this is the last full week of school! Can you believe it? I cannot! I always say time flies after Spring Break, but I swear it moves faster each year.

PACK Pass Update: We will not have a PACK Pass party. I will be doing raffles at lunch each day for a sweet gift bag including Prime, cotton candy and some other things. The kids can choose to put their PACK passes in this bucket and I will not empty it between drawings. We are also working on a 'Door Dash' option for kids that have been saving this with in mind. However, this is work in progress. We have to figure out how many kids this effects and what we will be getting. I will let you know as soon as I know.

Continue to flood the kid with PACK passes these last couple weeks. It will help with behavior and I know they will be motivated by these gift bags.

Check Out Update: Walkie Talkies- Candi will be collecting your walkie talkie when she takes your material checklist. If you have already turned in your checklist, please turn in your walkie talkie at the end of the year. Candi also needs the walkie talkie box. If you haven't turned that in, you can turn it in with your walkie talkie. How many times can you say walkie talkie in one small paragraph?

Benchmark readers: As Candi has shared, we would like an updated inventory of our Benchmark readers. The purpose of this is to simply know what we have. They have been moved around quite a bit and we need an updated inventory. You can share your total inventory as a grade level. We will work on a spreadsheet for your numbers that will be shared soon.
PACK Assembly: This week we will recognize our 'Top Timberwolf.' Many of you have asked if you can recognize 2 students and that is totally fine! We will have our assembly outside. Yay!

PBIS Update:

Please turn in your classroom handbook for revision. We will have boxes under the table in the office. Thank you!
At our PTC meeting on Thursday, the PTC introduced their new board members. I have been working with them quite a bit and they are awesome! Please feel free to copy and paste the information below with your parents. They still need several members.

Congratulations to the new PTC Board!

Sunday, May 14

Happy Mother's Day to each and every one of you. Whether you are a dog mom, a new mom or a mom attending college graduation, you all deserve a day of relaxation and pampering. You are not only loved by your own children but also be each of your students. You are all incredible humans 💖

Congratulations to this year's Teacher Who Makes a Difference, Poppi Canepa! As you all know, Poppi will do anything for her students and truly cares about each of them. She creates a family in her classroom and integrates GLAD strategies throughout her teaching. Poppi has also taught the 4/5 combo for two years in a row and has handled it with grace. Even with two grade levels in her classroom, she finds time to work in small groups with her students in order to provide the added support they may need. A huge congrats to Poppi!

Volunteer Appreciation Tea: The Volunteer Appreciation Tea is Monday June 5th at 1:30. Please add your classroom volunteers to this list: Volunteer List

Thank you to all of you who helped at and attended the Carnival. It was amazing! Mr. Hinh took pictures all evening. Check them out: Carnival Pictures

PBIS: We are thinking on our feet in the lunchroom to finish the year out strong and sane! Instead of class dojo, we are handing out green PACK passes that are just for the lunchroom. When students get one of these passes they put it in a grade level bucket for a drawing before their lunch is over. The "prizes" are those highly desired snacks! Talk about instant gratification and a much quieter and cleaner lunch room.

EL UpdateThank you all so much for the time you took to complete the RFEP and EL monitoring forms. One copy will be placed in the student's cum folder and one will go home. I will put the copies to send home in your boxes. Please send them home on Friday, May 19. Since some families have multiple children, I would love for all forms to go home on the same day.  Thank you!

TOSA TidbitsGIFT OF TIME! See the link below to sign up for an additional 40 minute prep on us! You can leave us plans or we can plan the time for you. Gift of Time!

Sunday, May 7

Holy Cow! It is May 7th. April was gone in a blink and you know May goes just as fast. Upper grades are deep into testing and there are a lot of things happening these last few weeks. I know the end of the year may feel like a time to relax and slow down a bit~ Heaven knows, we are all exhausted. All of that being said, the end of they year will be so much smoother if we continue with the same routines and keep working on academics. The upcoming summer is actually a stress trigger for many of our students. Some students feel safest while at school and others know they will be spending the summer at Adventure Club. Our students truly love being here at school with you and are nervous about leaving for the summer. Let's take it to the last minute and end strong!

PBIS Walkthrough: Our PBIS walkthrough is complete and the application is submitted. We applied for Silver recognition which is the highest you can apply for in Tier 1. That is something to be proud of! A HUGE thank you to Rori for all of the work she put in leading up to the walkthrough. And thank you to the entire PBIS team. We have made incredible progress with PBIS in the last two years.
Next year, we will be adding a Tier 2 team and supports. It will be essential that we all enter our data into SWIS. The purpose of adding incidents to SWIS is simply for data purposes. We can get a child Tier 2 support if we see they have multiple referrals and Tier 1 interventions and reteaches are not working. A SWIS referral is not punitive. Thank you to all of you who have been entering data into SWIS. See below for the number of entries per grade. This is a reminder to enter incidents into SWIS.

Did you know... Maria's mom was a nun before she met her dad! Crazy!
