Three days. Just three days. We can do anything for three days. It will be filled with fun and crazy, that much I can guarantee. The reward will be some much deserved rest and relaxation! Hang tight, we can do this!

Reminder: Tuesday is our Holiday Party. It is at The Yard House after school. Remember to bring a funny White Elephant gift valued at $15.

A couple of business items: As you are creating your lesson plans for the first weed back to school, remember to include time to review the PACK expectations.

Also, the fire inspectors are coming on December 28. Please put away lights and decorations. They will also be looking for 3D things on the walls. Thank you!

All I have to say is there is more to this story that I need to hear!

PBIS Info and Request: Hello teachers! In efforts to create more cohesive and sensible behavior expectations, we were hoping you could help us fill out this form. Please indicate what (if any) behavior patterns you see among your grade level at recess that need to be targeted. There is also a space at the end for any other behavior patterns you see that are concerning.  There were a lot of meaningful things suggested and brought to our attention at the October PD, and this really helps us to have all of the things we need to tackle in one place! Thank you for filling this out.

PBIS Behavior Form

Help Needed! PTC is asking for a teacher rep to help with EPI Supplies. They took it on last year but it is difficult for them because they do not understand the ins and outs of the start of the year.  Please let me know if you are willing to help with this.

EL Update

If you were asked to complete the "RFEP Monitoring" forms for a student, thank you for completing it by the deadline which was Friday , 12/9. We have ALL of our monitoring forms complete and submitted. You are appreciated!

Do you have a student who may benefit from having google slides translated into their home language? Jennie Ruvalcaba added the following information to our district blog about the following translation add-on in google slides. It took me 3 minutes to get it up and running and is easy to navigate. Let me know if you'd like to explore it together. It would be a perfect resource for our newcomers who are in the early stages of academic language development but can read in their home language.

Translation Add-On for Google Slides & Resources for Newcomer English Learners
TheTranslate My Slide add-on is an approved add-on for Google Slides that can be used to translate individual slides or complete slide presentations.  Here is a 1-Minute Screencastify showing how to install the Translate My Slide add-on.  This information has been added to the other translation resources that can be found on the Supporting Newcomers in RCSD Document

Sunday, December 4

Happy December!! Yes, the time of craziness is upon us. There is something I keep hearing that I am not sure I have heard before, but it is 'Don't expect me to make any big decisions until after the New Year.' It made me think about school. This is a crazy time with a lot of fun things happening. The kids (and our) brains are in a different place. I am not saying don't teach, but I am asking you to think of some out of the box things you can do during these next couple weeks. For example, this is a great time to support social emotional health with things like Second Step and compliment circles. It is also a great time to review rather than to teach new concepts. I don't think I am telling you anything you don't know, but I want you to know it is ok to shift your instruction during this time.

First, we have exciting news!!!

Hi Stoneridge family!

Just wanted to share that our sweet baby girl arrived early Wednesday morning! She sure is a cutie pie and we are absolutely in love with her!

Meet Briar Elise Stubblefield ðŸŽ€
Born 11/30/22 @ 2:34 am
6lbs 8 oz and 20.25 inches

TABS!!!!  The second exciting thing I have to share is WAY less exciting, but still pretty cool. Check out the tabs that have been added to the blog. I think they will be very helpful. Let me know if you have ideas about other things I should add.

PACK Assembly Change: We are changing the date of our PACK Assembly. It is supposed to be on the 15th, but there is PD on that day. Instead, we are going to integrate the PACK Assembly into the Holiday Sing. We will have a grade level present and then, we will sing a song, and so on. At the end, we will sing a few more songs. I was thinking it would be fun if each grade level were to choose the song we sing after they present. I am open to feedback! I think this will be really great! We will have it in the MP on Wednesday the 21st. The sing is currently scheduled on the calendar at 8am. We could also move the time to 9am. Let me know if your grade level has a preference.

Second Step Curriculum: A reminder that Second Step is required curriculum. I will be checking in at PLC's on how you are doing with it. I have been checking the usage report online. If you need support logging in or info on how to use it, please let me know.

Holiday Happenings
Lots will be happening in the next few weeks and schedules or routines may be wonky. Would an extra set of hands be appreciated? Can you think of a student(s) that may need extra support? Open this LINK to let us know the date and time of your activity and we will be happy to support.

Parents' Night Out: We are so excited to offer a Parents' Night Out again. Please sign up to help if you can!
Parent's Night Out (PNO) - Thank you Mrs. Larsen, Mrs. Hardy, Mrs. Smith for volunteering so far. That allows us to sign up 30+/- students unless more teachers sign up.  Here's the link if you'd like the extra $ and have time next Friday. Thank you!  Teacher PNO excel sheet sign up

Sunday, November 27

I hope you had a wonderful break. I know many of us got taken down by sickness. We held strong until our bodies finally let down. For me, that meant some forced rest and it was hard to find the positive. In the end, I was thankful that I was well enough to have my family over for Thanksgiving. Overall, it was a much needed break!!

We have some things added to our schedule this week.

Evacuation Drill: We will have an evacuation drill at 10:50am on Monday. We are supposed to have an evacuation drill each month and this will check the November box.

Optional Assembly: ECO Hero Assembly at 9am on this Tuesday, Nov. 29th. This assembly will be outside in the quad. The last time they came, we had some sound issues. It is a very fun and light-hearted assembly the kids really enjoyed. It is optional, so please come if it works for your class!

Introduction: There will be a new face on campus tomorrow! Kirsten Ansbach will be officially starting as the new teacher for our SDC class in room 34. Yay!! Please give her a huge welcome!

Upcoming PTC Events:

We will have our fist Penguin Patch Holiday Shop. It will be super fun. Kids can buy gifts for their family members. Stay tuned for more information.

Parents Night Out: We are also adding a Parents Night Out. Friday, 12/9 ~ 5-7:30pm
Sign Ups will be available soon!

Sunday, November 6

Well, it is that time- Time to fall back. I must say I took full advantage this morning! Did anyone else feel really tired this last week. I chalk it up to the dark evenings and cold weather. Time to pull out the sweaters and coats!

Baby Time! Thank you to Erin for hosting and to everyone else that planned the baby shower yesterday. It was a wonderful get together celebrating our new mommas, Rani and Katie. I can't believe the day is almost here!

Report Cards: Please have your report cards submitted by Monday night. If you have lingering assessments, remember you can make changes by Wednesday. We will be emailing report cards on Thursday after school. Almost all grade levels wanted them emailed ahead of time. We can print your report cards for conferences too.

EL Update:
RFEP Monitoring

California requires that we continue to monitor the academic and language growth of any students who have been reclassified from English Learner (EL) to Fluent English Proficient (RFEP) within the last 4 years. This monitoring allows us to celebrate student success and to determine if additional support may be needed for these students to continue making progress.

Our first round of RFEP Monitoring Forms will be assigned on 11/10/22 and will be due by 12/09/22. Teachers who have students that have been reclassified within the last 4 years will receive automated emails from Ellevation when these RFEP Monitoring forms are assigned. Once you receive the email, please log-in to Ellevation through Clever to complete the forms in your “Monitoring” tab within Ellevation.  If you have any questions as you complete the forms, please watch this 3-minute video to learn how to complete the RFEP Monitoring Forms in Ellevation.

Please keep in mind that we will review these Forms in order to assess how students are progressing. You will not be able to edit forms once you have submitted them, so please review carefully!

Please reach out to me with any questions.

Thank you!

Summative ELPAC Important Dates to Consider

It may be determined to avoid that day all together or work around scheduling with a particular grade level. Sunday, October 30

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are all having a great weekend. For whatever reasons, Halloween is one of those times of year that make it abundantly clear that humans are very unique and each bring their own gift to everything. What I mean is that I think you would agree with me if I said that some people are Halloween people and some are not. Some people go absolutely bonkers for Halloween. I will be honest, I do not. My siblings and I blame our parents because it was not their favorite holiday.
So, why do I even mention this? Last night, we went to one of our neighbor's houses because they have a 'show' nightly. Ok, this is not a small show. They have an entire light show with sparklers and snow!! It is absolutely incredible and a neighborhood  highlight. We also have neighbors who built an entire pirate ship in front of their house, solely for Halloween. As crazy as I may think they are, I am very thankful for them because they are providing so much magic for both children and adults. Rather than beat myself up, I remind myself that I may not bring the Halloween magic, but I bring the magic elsewhere! We each have our own unique, magic. I encourage you to bring your own magic and to recognize everyone else's.

Beginning tomorrow, we will have 2 days of learning and growth. It is going to be great. So you can mentally prepare, the days will look like this:

Monday:
8am: Meet in the library. We will have some fun and you will need your phone.
The morning topics will include some SSP/Behavior updates and then the math essential standards.
11:30am: Jesse Bennett will be here to lead us through some yoga. Dress comfy!
12:00pm: We will break for lunch and the afternoon will be time in your PLC's to work on the math essential standard pacing guide and common assessments.

Tuesday:
8am: Meet in the library. More fun to have!
Our morning topic will be PBIS.
1130am: We will break for lunch and the afternoon is for you to work. I know that conferences are coming and there is a lot to do.

Thank you to all of you for your participation in the door decorating contest and the parade. It was such a fun day! The Harvest Spooktacular was absolutely amazing and there were so many families here!! What a great week!

Did you know... Angela Primavera swam in the bay from Alcatraz to San Francisco not once, but twice!? (She still has no idea why on earth she would do that!) Way to go, Angela! I got lots of guesses for that one, but no one guessed Angela.

Did you know one of our staff members doesn't have a middle name? Who is it?
