January 29 2023

Happy Sunday! Tomorrow is the 100th day of school so dust off those stylish outfits! Time flies after the 100th day.

Fire Safety Assembly: The fire department is going to come do a fire safety assembly on Feb. 3.

9am: TK-2 and 9:45am: 3-5

Remember, it is an optional assembly.

February is I Love Reading Month! Lots of fun to come.
Jesse Bennett comes on February 9th and Erin Dealey on February 16th.

Lunch Count and School Milk
Lunch Count:
  • Please take lunch count for the different choices offered each day. Miss Ana prepares the food for the students each day based on these numbers. She needs to limit the number of extras she makes. This is especially important on those days with popular items like breakfast as lunch, chicken nuggets, tacos and frozen yogurt days. A reminder to students to only take a school lunch if they have ordered one and to take what they chose in the morning, would be very helpful.
Milk:
  • The district has changed the system for students receiving milk if they brought a lunch from home. Please share this with your students: Students with a home lunch can still get milk. They need to check out with Miss Kathy so she can document how much milk we are going through. They will also be encouraged to take 2 items from the salad bar.

PBIS
To help all students follow the PACK expectations and enjoy their lunch time, we are going to bring back a class point system!  The system was already briefly explained to the 4th and 5th graders during their lunch on Friday and we will roll it out to the other grade levels on Monday. The points will be given on Class Dojo.  At the end of the week, the class with the most points will have their tables turned to face each other, a table cloth, and will be dismissed first to go out to recess/return to class. The winning 4th/5th grade class will also be called to enter the MPR first for lunch. Please take a moment to pump your student up for this! Here is the PACK Cafeteria poster for your reference: see slide one for the expectations we will be highlighting right now

Did you know... that for Luisa cash was tight during college years so…With help of a friend, she overhauled my car’s engine and replaced it with used one from junk yard. Did my own oil change, learned how change the spark plugs and timing belt in my car. Whew!

Did you know one of our staff members has a famous family member? She did not say who it is and I want to know!

January 22, 2023

Happy Sunday! Our family spent the weekend in San Francisco for my son's lacrosse tournament. It was such a great weekend. The game was in a park, in a true San Francisco neighborhood, which meant really tough parking!! We had the true city experience. The best part, however, was Joelle's absolute excitement seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. She shared that they are learning about bridges in class and she was thrilled to see the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge. This was a timely trip for sure. The reason I share is because I love seeing what we do each day through my daughter's eyes. What you do matters more than you realize and the kids are taking it all in. You are all rockstars!

We have a lot of things coming up. Thank you to Shannon and Christina for working on I Love Reading Month. We have added Jesse Bennett to our author visit list. Yay! See below for the dates. Here is the link to the book order document to share with families: Book Orders

Sunday, January 15

Happy Sunday! As I shared after school Friday, change is coming. This will be my last year at Stoneridge as I leave to open Westbrook Elementary. This is truly a dream come true for me and I am so excited for this opportunity, but that does not make this change any easier. I absolutely love coming to work each day. I love each of you, the kids and the community. We are family- We are Stoneridge. When people ask how long I have been at Stoneridge, I honestly cannot answer. When you think of everything we have been through, it feels like a lifetime. I have enjoyed working with each of you and have learned so much! That being said, our work is not done. We have the year to finish and we will do it well!!

Now, back to business...

We have signed up with Sami Kadar for his virtual content. He will come to Stoneridge, if we are interested! You will get an email from him every Sunday.

Before you get started, watch this video: Sami Staff Info

It is a 20 minute video each week and he teaches some really important life skills. I would love if you could plug this into your weekly schedule. I know, finding the time is tough, but it is valuable learning. Thank you!

A huge thank you to Christina and Shannon! They have been working on I Love Reading Month and setting up an author visit with Erin Dealey and she is coming!

January 8, 2023

Welcome Back Everyone!! I hope that you were able to rest and recharge! All I have to say is that this full week after New Year's was an absolute gift. It felt like a break. I took full advantage and stayed up too late and slept in too long, but the time my family spent together was invaluable. I told myself this was the recharge I needed to take on the rest of the year. My wish for you is that you were also able to truly recharge and feel renewed. The second half of the year is going to be awesome!

I am looking forward to Monday. We start at Eich getting to hear Phil Boyte. He is incredible! Then, some fun sessions. After lunch, we will meet in the staff room to practice with SWIS a bit. I will share your Essential Standard document with you and you can take a peak at it with your PLC.

Please log into SWIS before tomorrow. You should have gotten an email from PBIS Apps to set up an account so you can do data entry in SWIS apps. We will be going over this in the afternoon on January 9th so please take a minute to set up your password. It shouldn't take too long. Once you set it up it will direct you to login into your account. You can do that and then you are done. We will go over the rest on the 9th. (If you are on the Tier 1 team, you should have already gotten a notification to set up your account. Let me know if you didn't.) Thank you!

Did you know... You had to wait a long time for this answer, but Christi Robertson was asked by Rob Lowe to be the nanny for his kids. She had already accepted a teaching job, so she couldn't accept. Thank goodness, the nanny they ended up hiring had them in the news a couple of years ago… 😳😳 It was still tough to say no! 😂😂

PBIS Info and Request: Hello teachers! In efforts to create more cohesive and sensible behavior expectations, we were hoping you could help us fill out this form. Please indicate what (if any) behavior patterns you see among your grade level at recess that need to be targeted. There is also a space at the end for any other behavior patterns you see that are concerning.  There were a lot of meaningful things suggested and brought to our attention at the October PD, and this really helps us to have all of the things we need to tackle in one place! Thank you for filling this out.

PBIS Behavior Form

Help Needed! PTC is asking for a teacher rep to help with EPI Supplies. They took it on last year but it is difficult for them because they do not understand the ins and outs of the start of the year.  Please let me know if you are willing to help with this.

EL Update

If you were asked to complete the "RFEP Monitoring" forms for a student, thank you for completing it by the deadline which was Friday , 12/9. We have ALL of our monitoring forms complete and submitted. You are appreciated!

Do you have a student who may benefit from having google slides translated into their home language? Jennie Ruvalcaba added the following information to our district blog about the following translation add-on in google slides. It took me 3 minutes to get it up and running and is easy to navigate. Let me know if you'd like to explore it together. It would be a perfect resource for our newcomers who are in the early stages of academic language development but can read in their home language.

Translation Add-On for Google Slides & Resources for Newcomer English Learners
TheTranslate My Slide add-on is an approved add-on for Google Slides that can be used to translate individual slides or complete slide presentations.  Here is a 1-Minute Screencastify showing how to install the Translate My Slide add-on.  This information has been added to the other translation resources that can be found on the Supporting Newcomers in RCSD Document

Sunday, December 4

Happy December!! Yes, the time of craziness is upon us. There is something I keep hearing that I am not sure I have heard before, but it is 'Don't expect me to make any big decisions until after the New Year.' It made me think about school. This is a crazy time with a lot of fun things happening. The kids (and our) brains are in a different place. I am not saying don't teach, but I am asking you to think of some out of the box things you can do during these next couple weeks. For example, this is a great time to support social emotional health with things like Second Step and compliment circles. It is also a great time to review rather than to teach new concepts. I don't think I am telling you anything you don't know, but I want you to know it is ok to shift your instruction during this time.

First, we have exciting news!!!

Hi Stoneridge family!

Just wanted to share that our sweet baby girl arrived early Wednesday morning! She sure is a cutie pie and we are absolutely in love with her!

Meet Briar Elise Stubblefield ðŸŽ€
Born 11/30/22 @ 2:34 am
6lbs 8 oz and 20.25 inches

TABS!!!!  The second exciting thing I have to share is WAY less exciting, but still pretty cool. Check out the tabs that have been added to the blog. I think they will be very helpful. Let me know if you have ideas about other things I should add.

PACK Assembly Change: We are changing the date of our PACK Assembly. It is supposed to be on the 15th, but there is PD on that day. Instead, we are going to integrate the PACK Assembly into the Holiday Sing. We will have a grade level present and then, we will sing a song, and so on. At the end, we will sing a few more songs. I was thinking it would be fun if each grade level were to choose the song we sing after they present. I am open to feedback! I think this will be really great! We will have it in the MP on Wednesday the 21st. The sing is currently scheduled on the calendar at 8am. We could also move the time to 9am. Let me know if your grade level has a preference.

Second Step Curriculum: A reminder that Second Step is required curriculum. I will be checking in at PLC's on how you are doing with it. I have been checking the usage report online. If you need support logging in or info on how to use it, please let me know.

Holiday Happenings
Lots will be happening in the next few weeks and schedules or routines may be wonky. Would an extra set of hands be appreciated? Can you think of a student(s) that may need extra support? Open this LINK to let us know the date and time of your activity and we will be happy to support.

Parents' Night Out: We are so excited to offer a Parents' Night Out again. Please sign up to help if you can!
Parent's Night Out (PNO) - Thank you Mrs. Larsen, Mrs. Hardy, Mrs. Smith for volunteering so far. That allows us to sign up 30+/- students unless more teachers sign up.  Here's the link if you'd like the extra $ and have time next Friday. Thank you!  Teacher PNO excel sheet sign up

Here are the dress up days for the last week of school:

Did you know... Jen Boyd lives two blocks away from her best friend since 2nd grade from the Bay Area!
