Sunday, May 22

Buckle in because here we go: Four days of absolute craziness!!! We can do anything for 4 days, right??

But before we do anything, I want to congratulate our Teacher Who Makes a Difference! This year it is Ally Simmons. As we all know, Ally will do anything for her students. She cares for each and every one of them as if they are her own children. It definitely shows because her kids love her right back. For all of us lucky enough to work with Ally, we know she will do anything for us too! We are so lucky to have you at Stoneridge, Ally! 💗 Congratulations!!

As you all know, Tuesday is our yearbook signing party. Please pass out your yearbooks on Monday so the kids can take a look but please DO NOT send them home until Tuesday. Students always forget them on signing day. Also, additional yearbooks are available in the office for $30 cash. We would like kids to know whether or not they have a yearbook before the signing party.

PTC has lots of goodies ready to sell at the signing party. Here is the list:

Happy Mother's Day tomorrow! Have a wonderful day spoiling your mom, being a mom or both. Whatever you do, relax and enjoy your loved ones. I hope you enjoyed your week of being spoiled by both students and families. It was as though our families have been looking for a way to show you how much they appreciate you, we gave them an opportunity, and the flood gates opened. It was so wonderful to see everyone come together and all because of you!

Class Lists: I shared the class list spreadsheet with each grade level. We will work on class lists during PLC time on Monday. I will check in to see if you are ready to work together school-wide or if you need time in you PLC first.

CAASPP Completion Report: Here is the completion report for those that wanted to take a look. A huge thank you to Nichol for pulling this report and for all of her help throughout CAASPP testing!

Sunday, May 1

May, here we come! As we enter the last month of school, be sure to review the PACK expectations and flood with positive reinforcement. We have added some things to our reward system to make it new and exciting. This will help us end the year on a positive note. Please show the video (in the email) to your students on Monday. A few classes did the raffle last Friday and the kids were beyond excited.

PBIS: Please share the update video with students on Monday. There is one change to the weekly drawings, I will come in on Friday mornings and pick the names.

KIND Assembly date change: Assembly will be next Friday, 5/13.

Just a reminder that Wild Things is coming on Monday!!! I am so super excited about this assembly and hope that you are too! Please have your kids seated by your 9:00 or 10:00 start time so each group gets a full program.

TK-2: 9:00-9:45
3-5: 10:00-10:50
Please talk with your kids beforehand about the importance of being quiet as they enter so we don't scare any of the amazing animals.
iReady: Good news, grades 2-5 will have iReady instruction in either math or ELA.
I will be by on Monday to talk iReady!
Thank you to all of you for testing out Raptor during our fire drill. We will have a drill this week or next. It will be a Shelter In Place drill. I don't want to interrupt the students too much, but I do want to take time to work with Raptor. I will be working on some of the issues, but in the meantime, see this Q/A. It has answers to many of our issues and questions.

TOSA Tidbits

A few weeks ago I shared links for a couple fluency games using doubles facts.
Double Doubles (3rd-5th) and Dominating Doubles (1st-2nd)
Over the next 2 Fridays, if you would like to sign up for a 30 minutes time slot, I can come in to facilitate the game with your students. It might not be suitable for TK or kinders but I can always adapt this game or come in to facilitate a different math game. I taught the game to first grade and it was really fun!

EL Update: RFEP Monitoring Round 2
If you have received an email from ELLevation with a request to complete the RFEP monitoring form, please take a moment to complete it. This is all done on ELLevation. This monitoring form needs to be completed by May 6. If you have any questions, please let Poppi or me know.

Sunday, April 24

Happy Monday! Welcome to the next edition of 'What crazy thing was Mrs. Brooks up to this weekend?' Well, on Saturday, I completed a mud, obstacle run: A 5k full of crazy obstacles, mud, and a huge water slide to finish. I did not want to do it. All of my team members were not able to participate, so it was just me. And, I was so nervous I would not be able to do some of the obstacles. I didn't want to fail. But, I did it and I loved every minute! It felt so good and I was proud of myself. I keep sharing these things with you, because I want you to know I practice what I preach. I have been really focusing on positive self talk and pushing my boundaries. I have always been really hard on myself, usually focusing on what I did wrong versus what I did right. I can also find many reasons why I cannot or should not do something. Lately, I have been working on changing that mindset. I now tell myself I can do it and even share when I am proud that I did. I also make a decision that I am going to do something, and decide how I am going to get there, rather than wondering if I will. Why do I ramble? I know that many of you are like me. You are hard on yourself and focus on what is not going right. Stop! I challenge you to share with me 3 things that are going well! I can't wait to hear them. Also, what are you going to do next? And I mean, undoubtedly-it IS happening. And how are you going to get there? We are in this together and WE ARE DOING GREAT THINGS!!!

Speaking of great things... I need your nominations for the Teacher Who Makes a Difference. Please share with me who you think deserves the award this year and why. Please share them by this Friday.

CAASPP Testing Schedule: Please share your testing schedule with Robin, Rori and I so we can minimize interruptions during this time.

I have headphones in my office, if you need to come grab some.

IMPORTANT: This is a reminder that your school keys should not be attached to your badge. If for some reason, you misplace your keys, or they are stolen, whoever finds them will know exactly what the keys open. Let me know if you have questions.

Coming Up this Week:

Tuesday, 4/26: Brooks Admin Meeting in the AM, PTC meeting at 3:45pm (In person and on Zoom)

Wednesday, 4/27: 1:15pm Fire Drill (We will use Raptor for attendance) and 3:30 Staff Meeting

Sunday, April 17

I hope you had a wonderful break with loved ones and that the end of this year is like a bike ride with a basket full of flowers for each of you. There is no doubt in my mind that it will be just that. We have all noticed the unique struggles of these students since they walked through our doors in August. What I find intriguing is that although we have made a lot of progress, some of the issues still linger. For example, the ability to work things out, solve problems independently, and sometimes, the ability to simply be kind to one another. Keep these things in mind as you support your students through these last few weeks of school. I know that it is tough, but it is more important than ever to flood the behavior you want to see with positive reinforcement.

The Brooks household got some new snuggles over break. We welcomed Millie into our family. She is 100% the cutest, sweetest puppy and also Joelle's personal teddy bear. Millie insists on being the center of attention at all times. Ask me how things are going in a week after we transition back to the real world and work! I am sure it will be like a bike ride with a basket full of flowers😆

Cooperative Assembly: The Cooperative Assembly is this Friday at 11:15. Please add your Cooperative students to this document: Cooperative Winners

Coming Up This Week:
Monday, 4/18: No School
Tuesday, 4/19: CAASPP Testing Window Opens- 5th Grade CAST(Science) Test
Wednesday, 4/20: 3:30pm PLC Leadership
Thursday, 4/21: IEP Day
Friday, 4/22: 11:15am Cooperative Assembly

Below, I share something that really resonated with me. I say, print it out and keep it close. Always remind yourself 'The only person that never makes a mistake is someone who does nothing.'
Have a wonderful week!
