Happy Sunday! We had an awesome week!
Again, thank you to everyone for all of the blood, sweat and tears you put into making Rock Your School Day so awesome! It was a busy and exciting day all over our campus.
A HUGE thank you to the teachers that held talent show try outs. They judged tons of groups and announced those going through Friday afternoon.
Thank you to Amistad for an incredible rally on Friday. The enthusiasm was contagious throughout the entire audience!
Tomorrow we will have a Shelter in Place drill. I will make an announcement and all you have to do is keep doing what you are doing. A shelter in place situation is when there is some sort of airborne toxin or something like a dog on campus. You just want the kids to stay indoors.
I will be out Tues-Fri. Carrie will be on campus Tues-Thurs. We will have a TIC on Friday.

Happy Football Sunday!
It seems as though we are all getting into the groove. Routines are established and students are settling in.
As I don't have one of my own pictures to post from this week, it is clear I need to get in the habit of taking pictures and posting. I have noticed many of you posting about all of the great things you are doing in the classroom. It is fun to see!
I am working on our agenda for Friday's PD. I will share it later this week. We will be spending more time on the SSP process, analyzing common assessments in each grade level and revisiting the essential standards chart.
Have a great week!

Another great shot of our awesome team! The first full week of school was a huge success. We made it through many changes and it was great.
Thank you to all of you that were able to come to our Happy Hour on Thursday. An even bigger thank you to Christin Kearns, Dan's IA, who had the idea, and poured for us on top of that! It was pretty great. I hope to do it a couple more times and if you couldn't make it this time, hopefully you will be able to to next time.
A few info items:
1) The music times have been altered slightly. I changed them on the master schedule. From what I see, the new times will be fine. If I missed something, let me know.
2) Library starts next week, August 26th. Yay!! Your times are also on the master schedule.
3) Lunch Help! 2nd and 3rd grade teachers, when you come into the MP, walk your hot lunch kids to the line together. Keeping kids grouped by class is an important piece to being efficient. Also, remind your students that if they buy lunch, the MUST pick something off the salad bar--even if they have no intention of eating it. Tell them to grab something to get through the line.
4) We are going to have a Recess Rodeo on Friday after lunch. I will share the schedule with you soon. I have to make some changes.

Welcome Back!!! What a great start! I am looking forward to all of the great things this year will bring.
This post is mostly reminders and small issues that have come up so far.
1) Lunch Time Procedure: Thank you so much for your willingness to adapt and work though that thing called-- LUNCH!! The last piece for grades 2 and 3 is that we would love if you could work to keep your hot lunch students in line by class. There are a lot of kids and anything we can do to help the process move along is a win. Day 2 was much better than Day 1. That is a good direction to be moving!
2) IEP Dates and Meetings: We have several IEP's that have deadlines right away, so we have to get their meetings scheduled. Often times, it comes down to one available day and we schedule the meeting. We apologize you are not involved in picking a good day and time, but if you could please make yourself available for the meeting, that would be awesome. There are not too many, but it is important to meet the legal deadlines.
3) Monday's PLC: I know you have a lot to talk about and need time to review the essential standards, but if you could make some time to get our articulation cards into the right classes, that would be super helpful. There was a lot of shifting over the summer due to several drops and additions.
4) Staff Voxer??: I sent out some emails last week pretty much knowing you wouldn't see them because you were not looking at your computers. Are you interested in doing a staff Voxer so you can see messages on your phone? Let me know what you think. Or share ideas about how I can get info to you during the day.
5) Mission Statement: Please send you mission statement to me by Friday, 8/16.
6) House Leader Meeting: We need to have one this week. Maybe Tuesday before or after school? Someone decide and let me know!
7) AR Workshop: Are you interested? I will work with them to find a Wednesday staff meeting time that works. It will be $50-70 dollars depending on the project you choose. Please let me know if you would like to do this.
8) iReady: The first testing window is open. This is the best opportunity to get a picture of your students academically. Start getting them on those computers!
9) Wear your Leaders of the PACK shirts tomorrow!!!
